SASSA SRD R370 grant
Social Relief of Distress (SRD) - extra help if you are unemployed.
Who can apply (typical rules - confirm on the portal)
• Aged 18 to 59
• Unemployed
• Income under R624 a month
• You must meet SASSA’s other checks (bank, ID, and grants you already get)
How to apply (about 10 minutes)
1. Open the free SASSA SRD application page.
2. Use your ID number and a phone number that can get an SMS.
3. Complete the form. Do not pay anyone to apply - it is free.
4. Write down your reference number.
Track your status
Open the SASSA SRD portal and check with your ID number. Watch the video below for the status-check screens.
